Questions About Our Science & Approach

  • What is Corcellys Therapeutics developing?

Corcellys Therapeutics is developing regenerative cell therapies for severe ocular diseases. Our lead program focuses on limbal stem cell deficiency (LSCD), a condition in which loss or dysfunction of limbal stem cells prevents normal regeneration of the corneal surface.

  • What is limbal stem cell deficiency?

Limbal stem cells continuously renew the corneal epithelium and help maintain a clear and healthy ocular surface. When these cells are lost or severely impaired, the cornea can become unstable and vascularized, resulting in chronic discomfort, impaired vision and, in severe cases, blindness.

  • How is the Corcellys approach different?

Our approach brings together stem cell biology, scalable manufacturing, cryopreservation and translational development. We are developing a robust, cryopreserved cell therapy intended to support practical clinical use and regeneration of a functional corneal surface.

  • Who could potentially benefit from this therapy?

Our lead program is being developed for patients with severe limbal stem cell deficiency. This includes patients for whom existing treatment options are limited, particularly when sufficient healthy limbal tissue is not available for an autologous treatment approach.

  • What stage of development is the program at?

Our lead program is in preclinical development. We are advancing the therapy through further product development and translational studies designed to support its progression toward future clinical evaluation.

  • Is Corcellys working only on the cornea?

The cornea is our initial focus, where our team has extensive experience in stem cell biology and translational development. Over time, we see opportunities to apply our expertise and regenerative medicine platform to additional serious ocular diseases.
